Bufferting, explained

Since I still keep getting this question, and I have failed to post the answer, here is the definition of buffert:

Evidently, in Thomas the Train, when the trains connect to each other, or connect to freight cars, it is called buffering. As is "Thomas buffered up to his freight cars to haul coal".

So, Brent's not crazy after all. But I sure felt like it for awhile.

Birthdays...

Well, it's getting close. Closer than I even thought. My boy is trying to turn THREE. I can hardly believe it. And he's talked about his upcoming birthday for weeks now. I kept explaining that first Mum would have one, then Daddy, then him. The other two have come and gone, and he's still waiting. Soon though! Of course we've already gotten him a couple neat additions to his train set and I wasn't good about waiting to give them to him. Well, what actually happened is that I wasn't good at hiding them from view...and the rest is history.

I'm not sure who enjoys them more though, him or the kitten (Doof). He runs up the rams, through the bridges and tunnels, racing and acting crazy. Wait, that pretty much describes both of them....hmmmmmm.....

This week is hectic. I'm trying to get our side of the house painted as a little side project before Andy's parents come down this weekend. So far I'm a bit behind schedule, but yesterday the cat kept climbing over the baby gate and putting his paws on the paint. And today as I was rolling the ceiling, I snapped the handle and the roller fell on my head, distributing paint on me, the floor, and everything else you could think of. Bet you wish I had a photo to go along with that one!!

And next weekend we go to Maryland to ride on.....you guessed it....THOMAS himself! The real live THOMAS!!!! Who happens to be appearing in several places across the US at the same time, but I'm sure ours will be the REAL LIVE ORIGINAL THOMAS. At least it will seem that way to anyone under the age of 5, let's hope. So here's hoping that I a) find my camera in time, and b) that little boy has the best birthday celebration possible. I think there's a shot.

Geez!

I can't believe it's been a month since we've been back from vacation! And also almost a month since I've posted anything - bad me. We've been so busy taking care of our new kitten that the time just flew! New kitten, you ask? Why yes, a tiny precious thing. Well, at least when he's not following me around biting my ankles.

I found him at work one morning after a night full of bad storms. Turned out he had a broken leg, and was about 5 weeks old. The vet couldn't do much for the leg because of his young age, but three weeks later he is getting around pretty well, I think. And he's certainly a part of the family now, our little Doof.

I was so worried that first night, without knowing the extent of his injuries, and with him being so small. I didn't want Brent to get his hopes up, even when the first words out of his mouth were "Daddy!!! Look what Mommy got for me!!!!". But he is thriving, and they are buddies through and through already. Brent's the only one he won't attack and bite, he just lays there and purrs and sleeps in his arms.

Well, when they're not playing trains, that is. For not only did I find a cute little wounded kitten, I found one that is also a Thomas fan!! No kidding, he climbs the track and bats the trains around. He waits until Brent's not looking and darts out to destroy the train setup, just to be funny. Then I hear "MOOOOOOOOOOM, Doof knocking my trains down!!!", and I forget that I only have a son and a cat, and not two boys fighting in the other room.

So here he is, in his grand debut: Doof!
